The Community
As our mission states, we are dedicated to enabling all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
The communities we serve benefit in the short term from the programs we have that focus on community work. These same communities, and the region as a whole benefit in the long term as our members become productive, caring citizens of Central Oregon.
The popular belief of the Boys & Girls Clubs is that the kids come to the Club, play basketball and go home. Sure, it gets them off the streets, but what else do they do?
Any of the seven clubs throughout the region, can tell you "LOTS!" Here are just a few things the KIDS in the Clubs have done in the past several months.
- Adopted Ray Johnson Park and cleans it quarterly
- Worked in a soup kitchen
- Street beautification projects
- Hosted National Boys & Girls Club Week events
- Painted a mural on the side of community buildings
- Worked on a local Habitat for Humanity house
- Hiking trail clean ups
- Volunteer with Red Cross blood mobile
